Moxibustion

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a therapeutic technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves the burning of dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), known as moxa, near or on specific acupuncture points of the body. The heat generated is used to stimulate these points, enhance the flow of Qi, and warm areas where energy or circulation is believed to be deficient.

Moxibustion can be applied directly on the skin using protective methods or indirectly by holding a lit moxa stick close to the surface of the body, often in combination with acupuncture. The warming effect is central to the practice and is traditionally associated with strengthening Yang energy and supporting circulation.

This therapy is commonly explored for pain management, muscle stiffness, joint discomfort, digestive issues, menstrual irregularities, and immune support. It is also used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to address sensations of cold, fatigue, and low vitality by encouraging warmth, movement, and balance within the body.
